Origin of Material: AMIS0271 is a commissioned CRM made from material supplied by SGS Minerals Services from the Guanajuato Mine Complex (GMC) located in Guanajuato State, Mexico. GMC is wholly owned by Great Panther Silver Limited through Minera Mexicana El Rosario, S.A. de C.V. The mine is located on the Central Plateau of Mexico. The City of Guanajuato, where the mines are located, is 380 km by road northwest of Mexico City. Mineralization occurs along regional scale faults, the largest of which is the 25 km long Veta Madre vein structure.
Mineral and Chemical Composition: The economic mineralization is hosted in quartz- carbonate-adularia veins and stockwork systems with identifiable ore-shoots that carry the bulk of the economic mineralization. The ore shoots are discontinuous, 10-40m wide and typically equal in vertical dimensions to strike length. The argentiferous mineralization is hosted in quartz veins with gangue mineralogy of quartz, calcite, pyrite, adularia, and sericite. The principal Ag bearing mineralization is acanthite (argentite), aguilarite and naumannite while Au occurs a free Au and as electrum. The Au to Ag ratios vary from about 1:70 to 1:200. Base metal mineralization is not common; when it occurs it is observed as chalcopyrite, sphalerite and galena.
