Origin of Material: AMIS0186 was supplied by Extract Resources from their Rössing South Uranium Project situated 7 km south of the Rössing Uranium Mine and 70km north-east of Swakopmund in Namibia. The uranium mineralisation is associated with Neoproterozoic Damara Orogen post tectonic alaskitic granites that display concordant, discordant and replacement relationships to the heavily folded host gniesses, marbles and limestones of the Khan and Rössing Formations.
Mineral and Chemical Composition: Rössing South uranium mineralogy is dominated by uraninite and coffinite, minor brannerite, traces betafite, and the alteration products of the above.
